When I started this blog in 2017, I was super excited about sharing the random recipes I customize when I’m at home. Whether it be a recipe I found online and tweaked to suit my pantry’s availability or an altogether new recipe I improvised as a result of boredom or just being hangry. Yes. Hangry.
If you’ve been following my blog for some time now, you may have noticed that I actually don’t post much about food. That’s because it became a lot trickier than I’d anticipated. I would either only remember that a post is a good idea after the meal is made (meaning there’s no record of the ingredients used), or the meal was missing something and I couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was. Sometimes, lighting just wasn’t working in my favour and the pictures would come out looking weird.
Nonetheless, I think I’ve found a solution!
This past weekend, I got to spend some time at the buffet restaurant of an amusement park in the South of Johannesburg. Grub time came and went, and later that evening as I reflected on the day as well as the food, my mind for some reason went back to a conversation I’d had with two of my brothers last year (Richyi & Solid, thank you!) In it, one of them suggested that I do a food tour where I try out different restaurants/food places over the course of the year, and then write a review on it.
Now, I’m no professional food connoisseur so my reviews will more or less sound like that one friend you have who’s watched several episodes of Masterchef but is also very particular about how she likes her food. I’m thinking I could throw in a review of the restaurant as a whole. You know, the service, the decor/ambience and that sort of stuff.
Saturday’s restaurant had an interesting Retro-Industrial look about it. Here’s a few pictures of the place.
The reviews will be once every other month, just so that I’m able to slot home-made recipes into my posting schedule as well. After all, sometimes all we want is a simple meal that we can make on our own… Or is it just me? 👀
Now, as cool as I think the idea is, it would be pointless for me to do it if it doesn’t interest you or resonate with you – the reader. So I’ve created a very short poll and attached it to the end of this post. Please take like 3 minutes of your time to let me know what your thoughts are on the idea. Also, share a few places you’d like for me to try out if you’re for the whole Food Tour idea. Just bear in mind that I’m based in one city. So, if I can’t access the place you’ve suggested I’ll just look around where I’m at for a place similar to your suggestion(s).
I’m egg-cited to hear what you think! 😂😂😂
Love & light to You & yours
